What is JEE Main Exam?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main stands as a premier engineering entrance examination within India, serving as the gateway to undergraduate engineering programs at esteemed institutions such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).

Under the auspices of the Government of India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) oversees the administration of this critical examination. Accessible via the official website jeemain.nta.ac.in, JEE Main occurs biannually, typically in January and April, granting candidates the flexibility to opt for either or both sessions. Delivered as a computer-based test (CBT), the exam ensures a secure and standardized testing environment.

Eligible candidates encompass those who have completed or are in the process of completing their 10+2 examination (or equivalent), with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. The exam structure comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs) alongside numerical value-based queries, with the syllabus primarily focusing on subjects from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Scoring within the exam entails positive marks for correct responses and negative marking for incorrect ones, ultimately culminating in the determination of candidates’ ranks based on their total scores.
